Flywheel exercise and assessment for physiotherapy.

The MED editions are certified medical devices for clinics and physiotherapy practices: flywheel exercise with V.MINI MED and movement assessment with E.MINI MED.

What Desmotec brings to a practice.

Load the patient controls

The resistance is the patient’s own effort, so it starts as low as they need. There is no weight to lift into place or drop, and you adjust the feel by changing the disc.

Numbers for every session

Force, power and speed are shown for each repetition, so you and the patient see the same numbers from one session to the next.

  • Exercise and assessment together

E.MINI MED and V.MINI MED are separate devices that can be used together: the patient exercises on the flywheel while standing on the assessment platform.

  • Certified devices

V.MINI MED and E.MINI MED are certified medical devices, for use in clinics and physiotherapy practices.

Devices for practices.

V.MINI MED and E.MINI MED are the certified medical devices. D.FULL and E.BOARD LARGE are training and assessment equipment: they are not medical devices and are not intended for diagnosis or treatment.

Effects of isoinertial training on muscle power, endurance, isometric strength, and balance: randomized clinical trial in patients with post-ACL reconstruction

Patra RC, Gupta S, Yashudas A, et al.

Read the paper
Design
96 of 136 randomised patients aged 18 to 45, three weeks after ACL reconstruction: six weeks of conventional rehabilitation with (47) or without (49) isoinertial training.
Device
Desmotec D11 Plus flywheel ergometer, used for the isoinertial training (half squat) and for testing before and after.
Reported results
  • Both groups improved in isometric strength, balance, and concentric and eccentric power.
  • The isoinertial group gained significantly more eccentric power (p = 0.0001).
  • Isometric strength, balance and concentric power did not differ between groups.

What to expect when you start.

  1. 01

    Clinician-led

You choose and supervise the exercise; the device provides the resistance and the measurements.

  2. 02

    Gradual introduction

Patients need a few sessions to learn the movement. Start with a light disc and submaximal effort.

  3. 03

    Training for your team

The Desmotec Academy offers training in device setup, exercise selection and coaching.
